Abstract Landscape
The goal of this class is to start with a landscape and create an abstraction using a technique of choice.
Choosing the starting point might be done by going through existing photos that one has or having a walk at the beach, park, or a mountain and choosing different views while considering how these might be used for an artwork.
Before beginning to create, the participants could also try playing with photo editors to see if they can find some inspiration there too.
Special attention can be paid to the following:
- atmosphere
- framing
- texture
- colors
- emotions or feelings the landscape evokes
- some non-visual things such as sounds or smell of the chosen place
Each creative process will be different. Here are some possible steps to follow:
- Choosing the technique that matches the first idea of the artwork best
- Considering focal points and thinking about negative and positive space
- Choosing dominant colors and visualizing composition
- Playing with simplified shapes, lines, or patterns
- Developing textures
- Finalizing the artwork
